A Rather Footsie Dilemma!

I have a question. To all the women and men (really not judging) who have ever got pedicures done in their life.

You know how after all the scrubbing and rubbing and wriggling-because-it-tickles torture is done…somewhere in the duration of a pedicure the pedicurist gives you a nice foot massage?

And the guy really puts in a lot of effort trying to find all the right spots to press and rub?

And then he looks up at you to see your reaction?

How the hell do you react?

Do you close your eyes and smile and relax? Do you let the pleasure of the massage show? But then what if it’s some weird pervy pleasure for the pedicurist to see that reaction? Because he smiles at you and starts massaging even more. All the time looking up at your face.

Do you just ignore all the massaging and continue talking to the person next to you / on the phone like nothing’s happened? But isn’t that kinda rude? I mean that guy is putting in a lot of work into your foot. And the only way he’ll ever know if he’s good or not is by your reaction? You’re literally depriving him of his self esteem at that point, you know?

Or do you sit there, wondering about your weird dilemma and thinking about how you’re going to rush home and ask the whole world in general about it?

And you do run home and ask your flatmate about it, and she shrugs and says she just tips the pedicurist.

Oh.

Note to self: Search for new pedicurist, lest the un-tipped-earlier-now-low-self-esteemed pedicurist chooses to murder my foot the next time.

P.S. I got pink nail paint...PINK!

  1. Fix the eyes on the foot, and tip the guy. That's what I do. Works.

And yes, you should find a new guy. Nobody makes eye contact in such a creepy way.

  3. And what's with pink?Isn't that too stereotyped a color?Roses are pink, nails are pink,a baby's cheeks are pink, snow white's cheeks are pink, gays love pink.I mean seriously.:-D I even saw a fashion blog calling itself...wait for it..shades of pink....:-D I mean..really..If pink was a guy,he would probably have got some severe case of a STD by now from all the over-indulgence..;-) But lucky for you,you got a keen sense of humor..:-P I think I can keep tolerating that for some time more...Ciao!!!!!!

  4. @RB - Tip. HAVE to remember to tip. Dammit.

@Rahul - Lol...it is...it's also a color I'm quite against. Hence it's an experimental experience and a nice laughter session if I find anything pink on me! I shall try my best to try and remain at least slightly funny for you, Sir ;)

  5. That is quite a dilemma to have; Your conundrum reminds me of Monica in Friends when she makes those *noises* when Pheebe gives her a back rub :D.

    Anyway, that's that :P.

    Cheers :)

  8. @Confused Soul - Pink happens to be a colour I hate, loathe and despise. Which is why I tend to amuse myself quite a bit with it! I can't stop laughing at my feet right now. It cheers me up :P

  9. My pedicurist is a woman, so I got no such dilemmas :P ... but she lowers my self-esteem by telling me how badly I maintain my feet :-|

  10. Yeah, that's the only time I tip generously. I have ugly feet. And I always take too long to go back for the pedicure. The man deserves it.

  12. I read magazines and I don't react much. But what you narrated happens and it was fun reading it. You know I am experimenting with nail paint colors these days, indigo, golden, yellow...:)

  18. hahaha. that's funny but it can be very annoying as well, right? i mean, someone giving you a weird smile while massaging your foot.

  20. Lol, quite the dilemma you've got there! ☺

You don't want the pedicurist to feel bad, however, you don't want to give out the wrong message, with the pleasured expression on your face..

....I've never thought about this! Probably cause I've never gotten a pedicure from a man before..

  21. @Kiara - Sadly, in my experience, men give better pedicures...which kinda brings me back to square 1! :D
